In part 4, we go to Genesis 2:18 where we learn that the institution of marriage was given to us by God to complete us. No matter what the culture tries to define or re-define, we cannot improve on the finished work of the Cross. So when man's "rib is missing", what can he do to find her? The answer is to (1) rest and take a nap, (2) wait until you "see her" and (3) when you do receive her, honor her and the Father and allow Him to bring her to you; do not dishonor her or her father by taking what is not yours to take before marriage.
In week 3 of our Family series, we learn that in every home, our roots determine our fruits. Home is to be a place where work is shared and care is given. A place of freedom and expression of self; of who we are and how uniquely God made us, knowing also that surrounding that freedom are boundaries and consequences to actions.
In Part 2 of our Family series, we ask the question, "Why did God give us worth, dignity, value and a sense of purpose?" Genesis 1:26-28 tells us that we were created by God to be blessed; to daily experience and enjoy the intimate hand of God embracing us and hearing Him say, "Son/daughter, come dance with me..."
Pastor Pat kicks off Part 1 of new The Family Project sermon series with a teaching titled, "There's No Place Like Home". We learn that home is where we find the answers to our deepest questions in life like: Where do I belong? Where do I fit? What is my purpose? Is my life significant?
Greg Corral discusses God's desire for for His children to first be "Worshippers" before "Doers". Christians often view "serving" as God's top priority when in reality God's top priority is for us is first and foremost to be worshippers. All activity for Christians has its origin first in us being Worshippers. God seeks us to Be before Do.
Webster's word of the year was "surreal", a fitting description of 2016. On this New Years Day, Pastor Pat shares the four areas that he feels encompass this word: (1) Politics (election), (2) Israel (UN resolution), (3) Marriage (tolerance of redefinition) and (4) Family (dismantling). In 2017, Crossroads will focus on the family and God's design. Join us beginning, Sunday, January 22nd when we discover "Family: God's Blueprint" and that our families were created with a purpose.
This week, Pastor Pat refers us back to the lineage of Jesus found in Matthew 1:1-17 and teaches us how the Gospels are the restoration of Christ's dreams for our lives. We are not a road going nowhere, but rather on a road going somewhere; all we need to do is follow Him.
In Part 5 of "Excelling in the Grace of Giving", we learn the characteristics of a generous heart.
